Well written... and it made me think;
We're all paying for an MMO game, we're paying for escapism, and to do things we cant do in real life. Now, I personally like adventures, and I'll be damned if I'm going to fly in 0.5 or higher. What I'm trying to say is, bar the new people, why dont people want to go into 0.4 or lower?
Its like reading LotR and stopping because their abouts to go into Moria. It makes no sense. The reason this is a game, and a damn good one, is because it allows for almost anything to happen. Its only limited by your imagination, and it has its own economy. Sure you can mine Veldspar, or shoot millions of rats worth 20-30K, but *why* when you could find yourself a growing corp, or an already established one, and make ten times that in half a minute?
People seem to enjoy the security of Empire, or those that do dip their toes in the low security water, whine when they get bitten. One guy last night was swearing a whole lot at MAFIA corp because they popped him up in their hunting grounds. Hes*****y enough to smack them, but knows he cant do anything about it. People have to just accept the fact that its lawless, and if more people would grow some balls and get out and earn, chances are, they'd earn so much more than sitting in their Apoc, mining Veld, for very little ISK. Sure they may lose some stuff too, I lost my Ferox to a BoB HAC last night, but I've gotta accept it, buy a new one, and move on.
Its all about the Risk:Reward ratio. If people really tried, they might find themselves in a little gang of small corps, helping each other. Hell, more people in low sec, CCP might even expand the universe for us.
I'm not saying you should play the game this certain way, I'm saying get out there, and make something of yourselves, so that when you do lose, you can replace it easily enough. Plus it'd stop whining for safer space, which is a rediculous request. Its like asking the government to stop criminals, as if its that easy.
